F.A.Q.

Each person is different when it comes to outdoor activities, especially when experiencing something new and challenging. Here we try to answer a few questions that you might have on your mind. If your question is not listed, please feel free to contact us with your enquiry.

Q. How do i book a program or activity with you?

A. You may contact us by telephone or email and check availability, before continuing with our booking procedure.
Q. What is the duration of our Jungle Expeditions?

A.  We have a variety of expeditions to suit the needs of our clients. Some people choose to attend an expedition over 2 days/1 night and other people would rather spend 5 days or more in Jungle. It is entirely up to you.

Q.  What are the trekking distances during our Expeditions?
A.  This varies depending on the expedition and duration. As a guideline; on a usual expedition we may cover between 5 and 10km in one day, however the trekking distances may be altered to suit the needs of our clients.

Q. Can our guides & Instructors speak English and local languages?

A. Yes, all our guides and instructors are fluent in English and other local languages.

Q. What do I need to bring?

A. For all of our activities, we provide you with a packing list. For most of our activities we provide almost all of the items you require.

Q. What clothes should I wear whilst trekking in the Jungle?

A.  Light weight trousers and long-sleeved tops are recommended to protect your body from thorny plants & mosquitoes.

Q. What footwear do I need?

A.  We recommend strong sturdy footwear – sandals, crocs & flip flops are not to be worn during our activities. We recommend for our clients to purchase locally made rubber shoes which provide adequate grip and durability during our activities. These shoes are available for purchase in our outdoor shop.

Q. What about mosquitoes?

A.  We recommend that you apply decent mosquito repellent which contains Deet (Diethyl-meta-toluamidebefore and during your activity and ensure that you re apply throughout the day. For longer activities in the jungle we recommend that our participants seek medical advice with regards to anti malaria medication prior to their participation in our activities

Q. What about leeches?

A. We have tried and tested every form of prevention against our little jungle friends & the only successful method of protection is to wear leech socks. Leech socks are available for purchase in our outdoor shop.

Q. What about drinking water?

A.  All water taken from fresh clean water sources is purified using purification methods to eliminate harmful bacteria. We recommend that participants drink between 2 and 3 litres of water per day to avoid dehydration.

Q. How hot will it get in the jungle?

A.  It may seem a strange question, but your body can quickly overheat during physical exertion in hot climates. With an average of around 80% humidity we regularly have water breaks during our activities to ensure everyone is hydrated and drinking enough water.

Q. What is the overnight accommodation like in the jungle?

A. We use custom made hammocks & tarpaulins made locally to our specifications. Sleeping in a hammock is remarkably comfortable but takes a bit of getting used to. We provide mosquito nets which are used in conjunction with our hammocks to minimize the risk of insect bites.

Q. What toilet and shower facilities are available in the jungle?

A. All of our jungle camp sites are located near to fresh running water and therefore showering may be done in the fresh, cool water.  We have a eco friendly method of depositing human waste whilst on expedition, which causes no harm to the environment and maintains  each persons privacy.

Q. What is a suitable age for our activities?

A. For our jungle activities, provided a reasonable standard of fitness, e.g. being able to walk around 5 kilometres of unpredictable jungle terrain in one day, is maintained then there are no real age barriers. We do however offer activities suitable for younger children, please visit our kids jungle camp page for more information.

Q. What is the best time to go?

A. The weather in Borneo is always unpredictable. We constantly check weather conditions & adapt our activities where needed. Therefore, weather permitting; activities may be conducted throughout the year.
